Place: Katrine- Viveash Reserve-Toodyay
Month: July
Days Stayed: 1 1/2 Weeks
We were right on the edge of the river and in the sun! Oh Yah lovely!!!
We stayed a little longer than we anticipated as we were waiting for mail. A it turned out we could have picked it up 2 days earlier! Useless Amazon!!!

We went for a day to Perth- Father was having 'Bunnings withdrawals'! AND to buy cheap gas. Yep, that's right drive a 1000 klms to save 50 cents! Sorry $10.
We visited Northam hospital- All Good!

Oh my Goodness:
Toodyah Vinnies:
What a rip off! I found a beautiful, almost new tote bag that would be fantastic to put my surface pro in and use when I get back to school!- $25. Who are they kidding. Mentioned this to father, he offered to go in and offer a lesser amount. Oh my goodness, he was told emphatically- NO! we have to pay! Not sure what they have to pay- rent?

The urn lady!
We were nosing around in an 'unmarked' (No Name) Op Shop when we heard this 'crazy lady' holding this mug sized dish with a lid, if it would be big enough for the 'ashes'. Finally she asks Henk.
Henk: Look I'm really sorry but I wouldn't know. So off she went asking the same question.
Henk: Why don't you try asking Mr Google, of better still go to a funeral parlour and ask (Not sure that was a better option!
My response would have been if asked: Why don't you just splurge on the 50 cents, fill it up and throw the rest out! Or better still, really go all out, spend $1 and buy two!!
As we were paying for this $2 angora and lambswool skirt (Which I was going to unpick and crotchet a shawl) Henk said something about the urn lady to the lady at the cashier. She relied nonchalantly: Yeah, we get all kinds here! Crazy woman!

Highlights:
The miniature railway:
Father: We are just looking, however, I wanted to go for a ride.
Father: It's just for kids
Me: But they have 'big kid' entry fees too
So off we went. It was run by volunteers. The drivers drove the train using their own 'diesel engine. (They were really petrol engines, however, the brochure said you must call them 'diesels'. The crew had made a couple of bridges to cross, a tunnel to go through and

lots of emus, kangaroos, settler, horses statutes along the way to see. The train carriage was very cramped for the 'bigger, big kids and you had to straddle the long bunk seat and sit extremely still in order to not topple over. Toot, Toot!!!

Mint:
When we went in to Perth for a 'cheap gas' we went to the mint. Father had 2 vouchers for a 'free gift'! Not only did we receive 2 free gifts- a gold coin imprinted with a picture of the mint encased in a plastic case. When we got home, father got his 2 free gifts out of his pocket and much to his dismay and utter disappointment, one of the coins was missing!
It was very interesting and we watched as the matie make a gold ingot.

The Emu Farm:
We went on the Farm tour (bit of a stretch to call it a tour!) However, the emus were very funny. The 'tour guide' whistled and all for a sudden the yearlings were dancing and jumping. Apparently the whistle is similar to what they make and the dancing and jumping is to determine the pecking order. Loved the emus!!!
