Month: June
Days Stayed: 2
Weather: Rainy
Augusta: We drove into town. Unfortunately there was absolutely nowhere to park the van near the Information Centre, unless you were prepared to walk a mile??? Not a very RV friendly town.
Margaret River:
Again absolutely nowhere to park. However, we decided to brave the walk as managed to find something on the hill in a back street and headed into the information Centre. Not RV friendly AT ALL!!!!
Asked about free camps- No!
Asked about a rest area map put out by WA-No! No offices in town- don't know where you can get it!!!
So... we headed off!
Father by this stage was NOT HAPPY JAN! so didn't want to do the coastal drive- a shame cause that is probably where you find Margaret Rivers beauty!
Highlights:
Cowrump:
What an absolutely quaint little town. They had full size cow statues around the town in their little garden, in front of the shops and along the sidewalks. They also had a lovely botanic garden area with tiny church that had been transported here! We got out and went for a walk. It was: Oh yah lovely!!!

They also had a lovely botanic garden area with tiny church that had been transported here! We got out and went for a walk. It was: Oh yah lovely!!!
Bunbury: We drove to the campsite on the beach and found out we needed to get a permit from the Information Centre, so off we went.
Parking area: Yes, outside centre
Free Camps: Right in town along the beach or in the reserve. We chose the reserve as it was very windy!
Helpful Lady: yes, yes, YES!!! Couldn't help us enough. I asked about a random product that I had seen in my travels and next thing I know the lady off-sider was busy looking for it on the net!
We went away with a plethora of information and leaflets.
Discovery Centre:
It was a very small area with one large and and a few small ones. We were impressed that they return the fish back into the bay and regularly catch new ones fro their displays.
We watched the feeding of the fish and go side tracked by this amazing colourful book that was our on one of the tables to look at. We were looking through it for quite some time!
Should've saved our money and went to the library! Ha, ha, ha!!!
The bay:
We went to the bay and watched a huge tanker being tugged into position into the port. Just as we were leaving we say 2 dolphins frolicking in the bay! Didn't expect to see anything as it was drizzly and the water was choppy! Oh yah! Lovely!!!
The artwork:
Wardandi Boodja is a five-and-half-metre steel bust sculpture representing a Noongar face and South West families.
Oh My Goodness:
Busselton:
Australia's longest Jetty:
It was an extremely windy day! It was a 5 min walk from the car, passed the Information centre to the Train station. Father had stopped previously at the Information centre to ask about the train. When we got there the matie said: No train- too windy. Under water Observation area- zero visibility!!! Ripped Off!!!
Why didn't they tell us this at the Information Centre!!!
