We left fairly early in the morning as we wanted to look around Esperance before heading out as free camping was non existent here. We found a spot 65 Klms from town in the a towns Community Centre and sports fields. A beautiful quiet spot. At the Information Centre we learned that we could do 2 tours that day and so off we went.

We left fairly early in the morning as we wanted to look around Esperance before heading out as free camping was non existent here. We found a spot 65 Klms from town in the a towns Community Centre and sports fields. A beautiful quiet spot. At the Information Centre we learned that we could do 2 tours that day and so off we went.
Oh my Goodness:
Lucky Bay:
Absolutely amazing! The sand on the beach was the whitest sand in Australia. the water was aquamarine blue- stunning! Sadly it was too cold to go in the water. The kangaroos were freely meandering along the beach as well. Seeing is truely believing! photos don't do it justice.
Highlights:
The Sunset and Sunrises:
Only one word for them- Sunning!
The Port Tour:
Right in the towns harbour was the port with huge tankers filling up with iron ore. They also exported wheat, barley and some other goods. It was very interesting and well worth the visit.
We were driven around the port by bus and were able to get up nice and close, even going inside the storage sheds. We saw the trains emptying their load.We were also able to see the conveyor belts moving the ore along to the ship.
Mermaid Leather:
We visited this small shed where the matie was making leather using fish skin. Amazing! Apparently tougher and more malleable than normal leather. He then made the leather into goods to be sold to the public.
We enjoyed watching a short video on the process and the matie showed us some of the workings of this process.
The Great Ocean Road:
A One Hour road trip along the coast and then back to Pink lake ( not Pink any more) We should have done this first and then went to Lucky Bay. Whilst beautiful- Lucky Bay 'blew it out of the water'
