After two long drive days, this was the perfect day to give the girls a little surprise. We woke up at 7:00am, packed up camp, and headed to Six Flags over Texas. Scott tried to trick the girls by telling them that we were going on a tour of the baseball stadium where the Rangers play, but he didn’t get the excited response he was hoping for. As soon as he asked them if they wanted to go to Six Flags instead, they shouted an enthusiastic, “Yeah!” So, we parked the RV and said HELLLLOOOOOO to heat and humidity. It’s probably going to get worse on this trip, but this was our first dose of it, so we had a huge adjustment period that lasted ALL DAY! Thank goodness Texas knows it’s heat, and had misting fans all over the park to cool off under.
Six Flags was AMAZING!!!! We went on the best day as there were super short lines for every single ride. We decided that we were only going ride the Moderate and Maximum Thrill Rides, but that didn’t last. Before long, we were only seeking out the Maximum Thrill rides, and boy were they thrilling! They had so many different types of rides that we have never seen before, and it was really hard to pick a favorite. We LOVED: Mr. Freeze, a roller coaster that went backwards with all kinds of twists and loops, The Titan, a twisting coaster that went 85 mph and had a 255 foot drop, The Joker, which was like being in one of those birdcages but without the cage, spinning around uncontrollably and traveling along a curving track (they describe it as a maniacal climb 12 stories high on a 90-degree hill, then experience 6 havoc-wreaking flips head over heels on a weightless journey), the New Texas Giant, just a really cool, crazy coaster, and La Vibora, where you ride like a bobsled inside the belly of a 1,500 foot snake without a track. They even had a ride called Runaway Mountain which was an indoor roller-coaster in complete darkness (like Star Tours in Disneyland, but without the stars), and a swing ride that went up 400 feet! We cracked up when we saw the waiting areas where people who didn’t want to ride could wait for their party. It was called the chicken coop, and they decorated it like an actual, oversized chicken coop. We had a BLAST! By 6:00, we were exhausted and headed to our RV park, took showers, made another home cooked meal and went to bed about 11:00pm (as I mentioned earlier, everything takes longer in an RV).
