Road Trip 2017

After a night of very little sleep (we are officially too big and old to share two full beds), we decided to just get up at 6:30am and get moving. Scott successfully made his first u-turn in the RV when we missed our freeway on ramp because we were busy taking our last pictures of the Las Vegas strip! At 100 degrees at 8:00am, we were happy to leave Nevada.

We thought the time was going to change when we crossed the border into Arizona, but then realized they don’t change their clocks. Since we were an hour ahead of where we thought we’d be when we passed a sign for Bearizona, a drive-through wildlife park, we said, “Why not?” This was not in our plan to start, but we took a quick detour and were glad we did. From the comfort of our RV, we were able to see Rocky Mtn. goats, coues & mule deer, American burro, Alaskan tundra wolves, Arctic wolves, junior black bears, white bison, American bison, Rocky Mtn. big horn sheep, and black bears up close and personal! It was defiantly a sight to see – especially the bears eating huge deer carcasses!

Then, we were off to the Grand Canyon. We decided to drive straight there. As we walked up to see the Mather viewpoint, Scott tried to video the girls initial reactions, but of course, it didn’t actually record until he thought he was stopping the video. The girls walked up, and said an enthusiastic, “WHOA!” Then we said, “Whoa, is right!!” None of us had ever seen the Grand Canyon before and it was definitely something to see! No picture could ever do the justice of actually seeing it in person.

After that, we drove to our hotel (this one was planned), and ate at a Mexican restaurant called Plaza Bonita. Stacy said it was the best pork carnitas plate she has ever tasted, and everyone else really liked their food too.

By 9:00pm, we were all in a food coma, and it was soon time for bed!
