Road Trip 2017

3 WEEKS IN!

Today, we woke up to head into Cooperstown and go to the Baseball Hall of Fame. The town was so cute!

Scott connected with someone before we left home, and arranged a special experience with some artifacts from the museum. We were led into a private room where we were able to view, and TOUCH, some things from the San Francisco Giants. We each put on white gloves, and the guy at the museum gave us a history of what we were seeing/touching. We held the bat that Willie Mays used to hit his 512th career home run. At the time, it set the record for the most career home runs by a National League player, second to only American League players Babe Ruth and Jimmie Foxx. We also held the glove of Masanori Murakami, the first Japanese player to ever play in the majors. Next, we held Tim Lincecum’s cleats that he wore when he got his 1000th strike out, and Madison Bumgarner’s hat from his Game 4 win over the Texas Rangers in the 2010 World Series. Scott could barely breathe!

Then, we toured through the whole museum. The girls thought it was really cool to see things that old players once wore. They especially liked taking pictures with mascot costumes. It was also cool to see the Hall of Fame Gallery with all of the plaques for all of the inductees. The people who were about to be inducted in a few weeks have autographed the place where their plaques will hang.

We grabbed some lunch, and then wandered through what felt like a thousand gift shops to Stacy but just a few to Scott.

Then, we hit to road to Canada. As we drove through New York, we were surprised to see so much open land. We have only ever experienced the city before this trip. Before we arrived at the border, we made a stop at the Anchor Bar to get buffalo wings from the place where they were invented.

Then, we sat forever at the border behind two tour buses before it was our turn which ended up taking us about 2 minutes. The girls were a little nervous about this process. This was their very first time out of the country!

We arrived at our hotel (planned), and Scott thought it would be nice to upgrade our room to make sure we had a view of the falls. Well, you could see where the falls were, but you couldn’t really see the falls. Oh well.
