We set our alarm to 6:00am today as it was another long drive day to get to Little Rock for 4th of July. The girls’ favorite part of traveling in the RV is that they could stay in bed as we hit the road early in the morning. So, Stacy made her Café Du Monde coffee, and made Scott his too and left while the girls slept another 2 hours.
After the girls were up, we decided we’d stop for a good, big breakfast. What better than Cracker Barrel? We all stuffed ourselves on a good, country breakfast and were back on the road again.
We rove through Mississippi on our way to Arkansas to check off another state. As we were driving, we saw endless cotton fields.
A little while later, we saw a billboard for the birthplace of Kermit, and if you know anything about Scott, you know we had to make a quick stop. We stopped in Jim Henson’s childhood town, and visited the Kermit museum. It was a little wooden place, and the woman inside was so happy (a little too happy) to talk to us as we looked around.
We arrived in Little Rock at about 5:00pm, plugged the RV in at a park, and packed a bag for the hotel. We had planned to stay at a hotel so we could have great access to the 4th of July festivities. We had no intention of plugging in at an RV park, but when the hotel said we’d have to pay at least $88 to park the RV overnight, we called the RV park and decided their $18 was much better. It was right across the river from our hotel, so it was a no brainer!
We got ready to go watch this epic fireworks display we’d heard so much about, and then Sydney got epically sick! We don’t need to document the specific details, but it was a mess! So we ended up just going out onto a riverwalk right outside the hotel to watch the fireworks after dousing ourselves with mosquito repellent. The mosquitos on this trip have been no joke! Of course, the biggest bites we got were in Texas.
We had asked the hotel for a roll away bed, so Sydney could have her own, but they said it was a fire hazard. We asked for sheets and blankets instead and made her a bed on the floor. She was such a positive trooper!
