The Sassy llamas

We caught the Bolivia hop bus from the centre of Cusco at 10pm ditching our 'bus buddies' very fast when we heard there was enough space for us all to have our own seats! We drove over night (including a little stop as the buses radiator overheated). We arrived in Puno at 6am, and caught a boat for a tour of the floating Islands. Here the women of the island showed us how they constructed the Islands by tying roots and wreaths together. Back on the much warmer bus (after the heating was fixed) we made our way to the Bolivian border. Due to bad weather conditions we weren't able to take a boat tour of Isla del sol, so checked into Hotel Wendy Mar. We ventured out for dinner and wrapped up for the night.
After a good nights sleep, we had a fabulous breakfast at the hotel and tried some coffees and lunch in the Conrad & Eagle owned by a Cork man. We decided against the Isla del sol tour because the water was so rough and cold. Instead we pottered about the little town stocking up on cardigans, hats and treats and went to see the church!
We caught the Bolivia Hop bus to La Paz at 6pm. Our guide was from La Paz but sounded like he should be on made in Chelsea. Half way through the trip we had to get off the bus and get a 10 minute boat trip across the lake while our bus followed on a barge. Mario the guide filled the rest of the journey with tales of San Pedro prison. We checked into Hostel Ananay, making shopping lists for our day in La Paz before the Amazon!
