Wednesday, we arrived in Rio and got a taxi to our hostel Mango Tree...after a great buffet in Frontera. We then headed to the beach for some vitamin D.
Thursday, after catching the 584 bus to the botanic gardens and started the hike to the Christ the Redeemer, which was rather tough going! After done fabulous photos and a well deserved coca cola, we descended getting a lift some of the way! We relaxed for the evening resting out sore muscles!
Friday, we did the free walking your of Downton seeing the viaduct and Selarno Steps, after that we tried to catch some sun, failing! So we resorted to some caipirinhas in Embario bar.
Saturday, beach beach beach! Yay!
Sunday, beach beach beach! Then a stroll around the hippy market on the square, some dinner and a pack for Ilha Grande.
Monday, we used Easy bus/ferry to get to Ilha. Arrived at our little cottage, went for a walk to the waterfall/jog on beach before dinner and an articulate challenge!
Tuesday, due to clear skies we decided to do a 19km hike to Dios Rios to old prison ruins, after that we recovered for the evening before dinner in Luna de Mar.
Wednesday, we started off early to Lopes Mendes (famous beach), but 30 minutes in, the heavens opened so we retreated to the cottage. After lunch the sun showed up so we went sun bathing for the evening
Thursday, 10am rough ferry back to Rio, we went to frontera for lunch and then sent the evening shopping.
Friday, we did the favela tour, seeing some of the poverty in Rio! After lunch we hiked Corro, and then got the cable car to the sugar loaf for sunset.
