The Sassy llamas

Our first stop in Argentina was Salta. We arrived in after a 12 hour bus journey from San Pedro to find that the ATM at the bus station did not facilitate our international cards nor our dollar bills. Sans airgead, we had no choice but get our daily exercise and walk to the hostel.
The next morning we were pleasantly surprised to discover the hostel breakfast included cereal which was a welcome change from our porridge diet!
We then set off to the main plaza in order to exchange our dollars on the "Blue dollar black market" taking in Salta's very European ambiance on the way. On one corner of the plaza we had many dealers offering us rates for our coveted American dollars in exchange for Argentinian pesos. After some haggling we got the exchange rate for 14.5 which was apparently very good considering as a normal ATM exchange would give us a rate of 10.
After checking out the local markets, we then went on to sample our first Argentinean steak in "Jacks"which was highly recommended by Trip Adviser and lived up to expectations!
After being fed and watered, we walked up to the top of the hill to take in the overall view of Salta. Very pretty and only took half an hour!
To end a very action packed Saturday, we bought some Argentinian Malbec wine and danced the night away in a club called "The Bond" on the Balcarce strip.

Next Argentinian stop - Córdoba!
