Europe 2017

I love waking up like right before class starts. It's fab. Also, love not having to get ready. Started our class day of with T-Swifts new video. No comment. In French, we learned the alphabet, numbers, and polite phrases. In Our Western Heritage, we learned about some old art. As my teacher described it multiple times "so so old." We then had chapel and lunch. Lunch was a veggie soup which was literally baby food, pureed vegetables. But it was tasty. After lunch I worked on some homework and then a group of us went with the group leaders to a bigger grocery store with our keltys to help them carry the groceries back. They described it to us like a Sams club because they have bulk items and at discount prices but really it was still expensive and all the things here in Europe are packaged smaller so definitely not Sams club material. It was fun to walk around the store to look at all the food products they have here. We all eagerly bought some snacks since we don't have access to food unless it's meal time. I got a lot of chocolate and some toiletry items. When we were ready to check out, we found that they don't accept any credit cards or any debit cards that are visa. (which is all we have) We all scrambled to see if we had enough cash and since I wasn't sure how much mine would be, I put back a few items. We loaded our keltys with our goodies and also the food that the group leaders bought for our meals. After that, a small group of us, Annah, Hannah, Abby, Claire, and Lizzy, went to McDonalds for a taste of America. I got a speculoos McFlurry. It was life. All the best things in one cup, that thing. Our next stop was DECATHLON. Only the best store in the whole entire world. IT WAS AMAZING. Annah had been wanting to go for some time now and we joke with her about how much she has said the word "decathlon," but now we take back all the jokes because her excitement was valid. We walked in and we instantly saw these adorable backpacks for 3 euros. 3 EUROS! And like these big ones for 8 euros. IT WAS INSANE. My bargain heart went crazy. They had so many products there. Mostly everything they had was so much cheaper than what it would be in an American outdoor store. It was huge and perfect and I loved it and we are going back soon. If anyone has any outdoor needs, let this girl know because I could probably find it for like the cheapest price you've ever seen. That's literally my dream job. Bargain shopping for other people. I love it. After we left there with our keltys much fuller, we walked past a strip of stores. One was this home decoration store and it was the cutest thing we've ever seen. The running joke in our group is how sketchy and gross Verviers is (which it's not that bad, just not that wonderful compared to other cities) and this store just did not seem to fit in its surroundings. Everything in that store we would all love to have in our future houses. It was adorbs. Our next stop was this fancy chocolate store. They have super fancy chocolate, macarons, tea, dark chocolate, pastries, and ice cream. All of it looked fake it was so perfect. Like pieces of art. They really didn't look real. We didn't get anything since they were about to close, but we will be back. We headed home after that and it is about a 20 minute walk from that side of town back to our facility. Dinner was ready soon after. We had fondue. Our dipping foods were sausages, cauliflower, broccoli, carrots, and everybody say it with me now, BREAD. Then I went into homework mode again. It's not hard work, but there's just so much to do since we only have like 3 days to do it until we leave. Then we had tea time and I finally found some tea I actually like in the cupboard. I'm kind of a spoiled tea snob thanks to my mom and fezziwigs (the best tea store) so tea time just isn't that exciting when your options are flavored Lipton teas. Then a small group of us started trying to plan our free travel plans. We leave September 21 for our first week of free travel and we have to submit an itinerary beforehand so we really need to figure out where we are going lol. So after we {kind of maybe} figured it out, I worked on more homework. (I'm tired of typing that word just as much as you are tired reading it, my apologies. blame the "study" part of "study abroad")
