Europe 2017

The day of switz
We woke up at 5:30. We got our things and most of our group ended up leaving for the train station at the same time. We were getting on a 6:39 train and most of us rode that together to Liège where we switched to Frankfurt. We got reservations for this train and it ended up the train was pretty empty. We always get reservations and then never need them. I tried to sleep on this train and I might have gotten some rest since I only had about three hours of sleep the night before. We had to pack and organize and I had taken a nap so I wasn’t super tired. We got off at Frankfurt and had some time so I got a chocolate croissant and a Dijon croissant for later for lunch. We had about a 20 minute delay on top of a 30 minute wait so we were there for awhile. It was good to be back in Germany though. Germany is one of my favorite countries for sure. Anything is better than Belgium. Our next train went to Basel Switzerland. We struggled to find some seats but eventually found some next to more of our group. This was about a 3 hour train. From Basel we took a train to Interlaken. This was an hour train ride. Here we had to say goodbye to the rest of the group as we all parted ways. this was very sad because we hadn’t been apart in so long and never for 2 weeks. That’s a long time! I think we were having some separation issues. We got off in Interlaken and our first goal was to find either an atm, the bus schedule, or a market to buy food. Well we weren’t successful with the first two so we just started walking and found ourselves a store. We didn’t know what kinds of meals we wanted to make yet so we sat down and discussed it all before we went in and bought it. When we had a game plan, we all went in and started picking out the foods we needed. We bought things for sandwiches, chicken, pasta and sauce, rolls, corn, potatoes, milk, cereal, and eggs. It was pretty successful and very cheap! This was about 7 meals worth of food and we only paid about 12 bucks a pieces. Cheapest meals yet. Go us. We then tried to figure out the buses. We asked a driver about it and he confirmed our bus. We had about a 30 minute wait and we needed some francs so Lizzy and Claire went into a nearby bank to see if they had an atm. They did so we took turns getting money out. Hannah had all our instructions on how to get to our airbnb. We took the bus for about 10 minutes and when we got off, it was like a 5 minute walk. We are staying in this quaint town. Adorable wooden houses with so many plants in their yards and flowers and vines. And of course it’s nestled in the mountains so the view is amazing. When we got to the house we figured out the keys and entered the cutest place ever!! There were three bedrooms with two double beds and bunk beds. There is a kitchen and a bathroom and a large living room with a big sectional couch a fireplace a tv and a dining table. There is a balcony that looks out to the mountains too. We sat down and put on Netflix and started watching stranger things because we were all in the same area and were hooked by this time. We were also exhausted and pleased with our comfy couch and perfect house. Grizzy our host was coming by to show us the ropes. She gave us bus passes and recommended paragliding and hiking options. She also asked if we saw the fondue house and I wasn’t sure what she was talking about but she took us up the hill behind the house to this tiny house with a table and a fondue pot. There was also this grassy area that we could sit and read books if we wanted with a view of the alps. How perfect. She was so sweet and helpful and answered any questions we had. Yay grizzy! We watched some more stranger things and then started on dinner. We made chicken breasts and spaghetti and corn. It was very tasty and it was fun to have a cute family dinner. We FaceTimed David about meeting up with his group and about paragliding because we were considering it. We finally decided to do it. We cleaned up dinner and then watched more stranger things. It is addicting. We almost finished the whole season but I was falling asleep so I had to shower and go to bed.

Fun facts: my converter is too big here. Money is pretty here. Pinks and purples and yellows so far.

Shoutout: thanks Hannah for picking out the best Airbnb ever!!!
