Getting up for school here is so hard to do because there is just no motivation when you know you could be traveling instead. Started the day with French and we learned how to say where we are from and some verbs and conjugations. It was a short lesson and I wasn't complaining. Then we had Our Western Heritage and we learned about the Minoans and the Mycenaeans. Then we had chapel and after that we had to choose what we wanted to eat at a restaurant later in the semester. I worked on homework every chance I got today so we had like a 20 minute break before lunch and I did some homework. Then we ate lunch. We ate that leftover baby food, leftover pork but with buns and barbecue sauce, leftover sausages, and corn. Then I went straight back to the grind. I had to watch three 30 minute videos and read half of Candide and write a few responses and listen to an hour recording and write another response and then try to study for some of my tests on Thursday. Then we took a break and went out on the town. We went to get waffles first. Our first Belgian waffles! I ordered un gaufre. I wanted it warm but he was not having that haha. When I asked for it warm he didn't speak English so I think he was trying to explain to me that he cooked it in the waffle maker so it can't be warmed up or something. I just smiled and said okay and gave him my 0.90 cents for it. They weren't what we were hoping for so we are still on the lookout for that perfect Belgian waffle. We will find one in Brussels for sure. It wasn't bad though! It tasted like a sponge cake. I actually liked the flavor, it just wasn't warm and when I find that perfect waffle, my life will be changed forever. I will know. After that we just walked into H&M and I bought some hair ties and some earrings. Then we went into a similar store C&A. Finally, we went to the carrefour market to buy that soap I put back yesterday. The market is crazy, these people wait in such long lines here. They must have more patience here. It was actually kind of funny because when I was checking out, there was a young girl ringing my things and she said "bonjour" and so I said it back of course. When I was paying, I had to sign the receipt and somehow she knew I didn't speak French because she asked me in English if I spoke French and they don't usually speak to us in English first. Usually they speak in French, see our deer in the headlights look, then speak English. So I guess my "bonjour" was just that bad haha. Then I came back and worked on more homework before dinner. Dinner was a potato bar and raw vegetable medley. The little bacon pieces are funny here. They look like little grubs. They tasted like bacon so I was happy. Love me some bacon. After dinner, you guessed it, more homework. Finally, we worked on more free travel planning. That stuff is stressful! It is so hard to plan every detail. It is good stress though, I mean I get to travel Europe so I try to keep my complaints to a minimum. Possible free travel pending: Southern France and Ireland!! Shoutout to Abigail Higgins for being the best and giving me lots of ideas of where to go!:) I also got to FaceTime Benjamin a bit. Always a happy time.
I said I would keep the complaints to myself but one more complaint, it has smelled like cow poo in our facility all day. I think Verviers just dumped it down their streets or something. It is everywhere. They need to plant some flowers or something. Now I am going to bed. I was supposed to get a nap today but didn't fit that in, so this girl needs some sleep! 2 more days until London!!!!!
