We left London today. crying. We had to pack all our stuff up. My bag weighs 12,000 pounds. I hope all my friends and fam appreciate the gifts because I have to carry them around on my back for a week. jk I love doing it if it means I get to bring home the coolest stuff ever. We took the tube to Waterloo station to board a train. The train took us to Salisbury. The train ride was about an hour and a half. We took a bus to Stonehenge from the train station. We got our tickets and our audio tour phones. We hopped on a shuttle to the stones. It started to spit rain on us and there was a slight wind. It was a bit chilly but kind of the weather I think of when I think of Stonehenge so I kind of liked it. The monument was just amazing. The landscape around it was rolling hills and hay fields. Farmland all around and then right in the middle of it all, this amazing stone arrangement. The color of the stones were just beautiful. The stand so tall and proud. They were so straight and flat. Gray-blue stones with spotted green and mint colored moss. The grass is so bright green and soft and free. The wildflowers were gorgeous. I just love nature. I still have no clue how people built that monument but props to them for their creativity and hard work. We then took the shuttle back to the cafe, store, and extra information building. I looked around the shop and then grabbed some grapes. I had more than 3 this time, yay! We took our bus back to the train station and took a train to Bath. As our train approached I glimpsed the city and I was in love. The buildings are all connected and have old architecture. All stone, so many windows, the Bath Abbey, hills, perfect. We walked into town to our hotel. It is in a really old building that has been refigured into a hotel so it is a neat old building. We then left to go to the Roman Baths. It was like a 2 minute walk from our hotel. We got our tickets and entered. Your first view is the upper deck of the courtyard and you look down on the main bath. I love Roman style architecture. It is gorgeous. I love how much stone they use, and how they use it. The carvings of people and the designs they decorate continue to surprise me for some reason. They had some serious talent. Then the tour takes you inside to look at other baths, springs, saunas, changing rooms, and stones. Then you enter into the lower area around the bath. It was pretty cool to walk on the 2,000 year old stone floor. It was also neat to see the bubbles in the water from where the spring is. After that I walked around the block a little just looking at the outside of the Bath and the Bath Abbey and their other old buildings. I then found some familiar faces and we went to find some food. We found fish and chips again. The fish was really good, the chips not so much. We sat on benches right outside the Bath and next to the Abbey so our dinner view was pretty perfect. To top it off, we had a live show. A guy was playing his violin rather well right in front of us. It was such a picture perfect scene. Or something you see in a movie. Then we went to a store to get some snacks for our 6 hour train ride tomorrow and then went to find gelato. I didn't get any since I ate some yesterday, but I got some hot chocolate. (just for you mom, and it is probably in my top 5 hot chocolates) You would have liked it:) We then made our way back to the hotel, admiring the surroundings as we went. When we got back I went to the top floor to a different room and the view out of their window is breathtaking. A hill with all of the buildings I saw earlier and literally they look right out at the Bath Abbey. The sun was setting right behind it and I think I was internally crying because it was perfect. When you think of Europe, this is what you see in your mind, and here I am seeing it. I just never thought I would be able to see all of these things I have dreamed about and have seen in pictures and here I am. Right in the middle of it. Surrounded and fulfilled by what my eyes capture. The beauty fills my whole body. You can feel the scenery. Every time I experience awe through what I see, I am filled with peace and wonderment. The thing is, it is so easy to forget the feeling and to forget the details. Luckily, I get to be reminded over and over everyday of the incredible things I get to experience. I am so thankful and blessed to be on this journey that will change my life forever. I hope to never take for granted what I get to see and I hope I can take this appreciation back home and use it to find the beauty in my every day life as well.
Fun Facts: Our room name is called the Georgian Suite. We watched a little bit of Judge Judy, Say Yes to the Dress, and Hoarders tonight. I guess the British like American tv shows. They are nuts. If anyone was wondering, the thing I buy the most of are cards. Greeting cards with pictures of what I see or cute artwork that relates to where I am. Yesterday I learned that the British people reference to Prince William as Wills, who knew? So I saw a newspaper that Kate and Wils were expecting a third child and I thought hmmm is that the royal couple? no because who in the world is Wils? Then I felt stupid when Annah told me that it was. Duh Jencie. So we were kind of like right next to them when they announced their pregnancy. neat.
