This bed is the worst thing I’ve ever slept on. It’s worse than the floor. The springs are like broken and poking up through the bed so I woke up multiple times trying to find a comfortable position. I never found one. We woke up for the day at 9. We got ready and left to find some breakfast. I got some coffee and the others bought some croissants. Our next stop was to rent some atvs. I wasn’t planning on driving it but only those who were 21 could drive so I had to. We rented three with two on each. He took our info, reminded us how they work, gave us or helmets, and sent us on our way. Pretty easy process. Our first stop was gas. Two of the wheelers needed gas first. Then we drove to the red rock beach. We hiked a small trail around a cliff to see a huge bay with red rocks. A lot of the pumas volcanic rocks. We took some pictures of the pretty blue bay and then hiked down to the beach. We walked along the beach some and enjoyed the rocks and water and then climbed back up around the cliff to our atvs. Our next stop was oia and that was going to be a long drive. It took us awhile to get there and we only got turned around a couple times, but we finally made it. On the way we stopped at a couple pottery stores and enjoyed observing the different pieces. Driving the atvs is actually really fun. I enjoyed it a lot. The nice breeze to contrast the warm sun. And we literally drove through the mountain so you could see the cities below and the coastline. At one point you could see both sides of the island which was pretty cool. Anyway i couldn’t look much since I was driving but I wanted to just enjoy the scenery the whole time. We parked our wheelers and then went into a market to buy some snacks to hold us over for the day. We then started walking into the town. We came across a lot of tourist shops but what really got my attention was all the white! It literally has the white buildings with domes and arches and blue painted doors and gates and windows. Sometimes there are yellow and pink and coral houses. But mainly white. Everywhere. It was beautiful. And the city just slopes down the cliff side and then there’s the sea. It was picturesque to the T. We walked through the little streets and enjoyed all the roaming cats and dogs. We also liked taking a lot of pictures and all the evil eyes. I bought this beautiful evil eye ring with rose gold band and little white jewels around it. I love it. The grecians are so nice to us. We were there for the famous sunset so we worked our way towards the coast. We found a cute bookstore and many cute souvenir shops. We reached a point where we could see the sun and the ocean so we knew we would be able to see the sunset. We walked down the cliff and towards a spot with tons of people. The reason it was popular was because the view was amazing. To the left you could see oia and all it’s cute white buildings. And then you could see the sea and the rest of santorini and other islands and then the sun was to the left and then on the far left was more of the island with houses on it. It was perfection. We waited on the sunset and it was worth it. So perfect and beautiful. Orange as ever. Pink sky. Fluffy clouds. Blue sky above the clouds. A bright glowing orange orb. We watched it blink away and then we drove our atvs back to Fira. It was dark and cold by this time so we tried to hurry home. We parked our atvs at our hostel and then went to find dinner. We found gyros for 2.60 and they were amazing. Then we got more gelato because they give you a heaping amount and the flavors are yum. We then shopped a little and then came back to the hostel. We avoid the hostel because it’s tiny and smells but we had nothing else to do. We showered and hit the hay.
Fun facts. The evil eye is for protection. The Greeks have been so helpful and kind so far. This island is mainly brown and dry yet so beautiful. The roaming cats and dogs let us pet most of them and we love it. Yes we were safe driving atvs across the island. You are just like another car and cars are careful around you.
