Europe 2017

We were able to sleep in a little more than usual today because we were catching a later train. That meant not having to wake up until 8! That was like a whole hour more of sleep! After breakfast, we set out for the train station. I think the staff was happy to see us go. They weren't the most accommodating even though they were cordial. We took our first short train to Freilassing and from there to Munich. That took about 2 hours or so. We ate lunch in the Munich train station for the hundredth time probably. That is okay because we like all its options. I ordered a chicken thigh and fries for like 5 dollars. It was a fabulous deal even if the man wasn't overly nice. I hadn't had fries that good since America. After I ate, I went to Starbucks to order myself a good ol' pumpkin spice latte. It is rare that I drink Starbucks here, so I couldn't help but treat myself. We met up with our group for our train and then got on a pretty full and reserved train. We finally found some seats and settled in for another 2 hour train ride. This train was headed towards Frankfurt. At Frankfurt, we changed over to a train headed to Liege. This train had two sections and we accidentally got on the wrong section, so we had to quickly run off and get on the next section. This train was also highly reserved. We always have a hard time finding seats but we usually manage. Abby's coffee was accidentally spilled on the middle of the train, which just makes your heart hurt for her when you think of that precious gold on the ground. It was a little funny later when thinking about scrambling to clean it up with toilet paper and people accidentally stepping in it. Especially if they rolled their suitcases through it, oops. This train was a little over an hour and a half. We finally made it to Liege and had to run to our next train that would take us to Verviers because our train was late arriving. Once I walked onto this train, I knew I was back in Belgium. This stench just hits you immediately and the rudeness comes back with full force. The conductor lady on this train was a booty face. That is all I will say about that. The lady conductors are always the worst. We made it back to the central station and there was a short train going to a station closer to our facility so we hurried to make that last train of the day. Whew! That was a lot of trains for one day. I spend my time on trains journaling, watching a lot of downloaded Netflix, listening to music, sleeping, and playing games on my phone. It isn't too bad if you have a comfortable seat. Once back to the facility, we dropped our stuff off and then a small group and I went next door to the Chinese place to get some to go dinner. The owner is so nice there and he speaks great English which is rare to find in Belgium. He got our order ready in no time. We ate dinner and then I edited and posted all my journals that I hadn't posted yet from our travels. Sleep was greatly welcomed after a long day of trains!

Fun Facts: In case you haven't been keeping track of my eating habits, I ate asian food six times in the course of a week. Yes, I love asian food a lot.

Shoutout: KLIL. Thanks for still keeping me updated on events at home as I continually feel the distance growing. I always love to hear about the exciting, typical, unusual, and even boring events of home. I love it all. I also love you.
