Peace and Love Tour
Today we had to leave Darwin :-( which was sad, but we had to move on. When we got to the Kakadu check in point we had to pay $100 per week just to visit the park here- not including accommodation!!!! (Editor’s Note: Although this seems steep in comparison to $80 for access to all WA National Parks for 12 months we actually didn’t mind paying. Some of the money goes to the traditional owners and the rest goes towards conservation of the park. The cost also includes guided tours by rangers of rock art and various walking trails, visitors centre and cultural centre activities etc.). We went on a 3.6 km loop walk at the check in point through a forest that was full of giant spider webs that completely freaked Mars out, then we drove another 50ks to get to central Jabiru, the main town in Kakadu. Then we went on a 1.5km loop walk through Aboriginal arts painted on rock walls at Nourlangie. Then we went back to the caravan park we are staying at in Jabiru.
