Peace and Love Tour
Today we went to the convict prison that shut down in 1991. First, before we went for our tour, we found out some cool facts about the prison, like how there were two riots - one in 1968 and 1988. In 1968 people punched guards and ran around bashing things but after three people were shot they backed down. But the big one was in 1988 when prisoners surprised guards with boiling water then took them hostage then went around burning everything that could burn. Roofs fell in, buildings burned and more guards were taken hostage. Eventually the prisoners backed down and released the hostages and that was the end of the riot.
Next we went to the zoo where we saw the African marked wild dog, meerkat, elephant, Orangutan, tiger and Tasmanian devil but it wasn’t as good as Melbourne Zoo. When we got back we played on our tablets and went on the jumping pillow. Then we went out to a place called Moondyne Joes for dinner, named after the escapologist who escaped from prison thirteen times. .
