Peace and Love Tour
Today we left at 10am to go to the most Western point of the Australian mainland. The track signage said we needed 4-wheel drive and no caravan on. Luckily we were staying 3 nights in Denham so that was no problem about the caravan. Parts of the track were badly treated, the most westerly point was only 43 km away (plus 200+ km before the 4WD section) but it was very slow. There were bumps the whole way and then we got to the really bad part and everyone flew off their seats over and over again. At one point we were going up a steep hill and we got stuck at the bottom and we had to let more air out of our tyres. Finally we got there and we had a photo with a sign saying most westerly point and the coordinates of the latitude and longitude. Then we did the whole thing all over again but backwards except it was a bit smoother and faster. When we got back on the bitumen (road) we could only go 80km an hour instead of 110km because we still didn’t have much air in our tyres. We drove 100 km back to Denham on the bitumen and that was it. It took way longer than all of us thought and it was after 7:00pm when we got back so it was almost pitch black.
