Peace and Love Tour

Today we drove 75ks to Coober Pedy. As a surprise we were staying in an underground motel, yay!!! We had a tour of the opal mine. (Editor’s Note: We got to try using the divining sticks to find the opal seam and everyone except myself and Oma was able to do it. Greg and Oma drilled their own piece of opal out of the wall. I found a piece for myself on the floor which was much less work.). Everywhere we went here sold opals because 90% of the world’s opals have been found at Coober Pedy, and no kidding, everywhere you looked every 5th word was ‘opal’. We looked over the town on a lookout from which we could see the whole town and all the mines spread out everywhere. After that we went to a underground church. Most things are underground here because it lowers the temperature by 35% to 40%.
