Peace and Love Tour

Today we woke up early and set off at 8 O’clock to drive 210 long kms and get to Broome, the largest city we would be in for the rest off the trip excluding Darwin (and Adelaide). We didn’t stop anywhere on the way but we saw a grass fire next to the road and it was really close but we made it through (see Captain’s Log below). We got to the caravan park before lunch, then we got new parts to fix the caravan door and went food shopping as well as going to the information centre to find out about things to do and collect two more coins. Broome, apart from Darwin, was the last place we could buy anything other than the essentials. When we got back we played on our screens and went to the pool in our caravan park till dinner time when we had chicken burgers for dinner and custard with whipped cream and giant marshmallows for dessert.

Captain's Log: We had a close call today. We noticed smoke on the horizon but as we drove closer the smoke got thicker and thicker. Then we realised it was closing in behind us and we were surrounded by raging flames, we had no choice but to continue on. We could barely see the road and then disaster struck! Parts of the caravan started to melt, we could see plastic dripping in our mirrors. One of the van tyres blew and we came to a grinding halt. We quickly jumped out of the car and unhooked the van so that we could escape. Luckily the children grabbed the technology out of the van before we left. We got back in the car and sped off just before the gas bottles exploded. Just joking - it was just a small grass fire beside the road but we thought this version sounded more exciting.
