When we woke up this morning our hose outside the van had formed it's own ice stalagmite icicle because it was so cold over night! Today we drove to Uluru, that’s the big red rock in the centre of Australia, but I’m hopping you all already know that. First we stopped at a place were we saw the Old Ghan train which had toilets that just went straight out onto the tracks so they had to have signs saying not to use them while stopped at a station. At the same place we also visited the truck museum where we saw old trucks and new ones as well, some of which looked surprisingly new for 50 to 60 year old trucks. We drove 100ks then we stopped at a meteorite crater witch was as big as a 3 storey house with a big garage and huge back yard. Then we drove another 300ks to Uluru where we were staying for tonight and tomorrow night. We had to have winter PJs, beanies, a sleeping bag, a doona, hot water bottles then three normal blankets to feel warm enough to go to sleep because the temperature overnight was – 2 degrees Celsius.
Editor’s Note: Uluru was nice but the stay in this campground was the low point of our trip. We were unable to book a powered or unpowered site since they were fully booked weeks ago and had to stay in the overflow area where there were literally about 100 other people. We had to queue for ages to check in, queue again each time we wanted to use a toilet and there was no hot water at all in the showers. We have definitely enjoyed our free road stops more than we enjoyed this campground but there are unfortunately no other options out here.
