We arrived in Las Vegas safely and man is it beautiful!

The 4 hour drive here wasn't so bad, I was hoping to be the one to drive the whole way but I ended up sleeping for the first half of the trip. I woke this morning feeling worse than the day before and unfortunately this cold doesn't seem to be letting up. It probably isn't helping that I haven't slowed down and I tried to give it the F-YOU attitude and wasn't going to let it ruin my trip but it seems its having none of that..I don't think I am going to win this battle.

The drive into Nevada is great, a bit of an outback freeway type drive with surrounding mountains and valleys all around. Just beautiful. You then suddenly go from nothing to a whole heaps of glittering buildings and thats when you know you've arrived in Vegas.

Our hotel is amazing, we decided to book in at the Bellagio and in the lead up to us arriving before leaving AUS I received very mixed reviews from people about staying at the Bellagio. Some good, others not so good with most saying it was slightly old and outdated which made me a bit nervous. The pictures showed me nothing but modern and fabulous and although I know pictures often lie I didn't think they could lie that much..and luckily for us they didn't!

Upon arriving we were asked if we wanted to upgrade our room for an extra $40, this would give us a room on the top floor, with a front and centre view of the famous Bellagio Fountains - why the heck not!

Our room is incredible, it's one of the nicest places I have ever stayed in and we have a fully loaded mini bar with snacks (loads of chocolate bars!), energy drinks and alcohol. We also have a stocked container filled with lollies - of course you have to pay for what you take but it definitely has everything we could ever need in here.

The fountain show goes off every 15 minutes and that too is just fabulous. I have seen it on TV and it looks just as amazing in real life also. I cannot believe it goes off right outside our bedroom window and if we get tired of watching it at the window we can watch it on TV with music as it happens down below, it's great.

We arrived here about 3pm this afternoon as we couldn't check in prior to that and with me feeling so sick this morning I wasn't able to rush on out here. We ended up having to stop in at Walmart to buy two extra carry on suitcases, we have bought so many nice things here and although we did pack light coming here we are still running out of room for all of our stuff...oops.

Pete and I went for a walk around the strip and sussed out all of the different places. We are staying right across the road from Las Vegas Paris which looks absolutely amazing and Caesars Palace is right next door. The Mirage is across the street as well as the massive Ferris wheel that goes 550 feet into the air over the strip - I will be going on that as soon as I can!

We went out for dinner at an Outback Steakhouse, it actually wasn't that nice but was funny reading the menu and seeing the Aussie themed food items on there. Some of it is a bit of the mark like "The killer wombat cocktail" but it was all good for a laugh.

It is absolutely freezing here, which makes me nervous for San Fransisco. I knew it was going to be cold but didn't expect Vegas to be as cold as it is. Unfortunately that is all I was able to do tonight, this flu I have is really taking it out of me and I hate that I am in Vegas and in bed by 9.30pm but my head is on fire and tomorrow is such a massive day. We have our trip to the Grand Canyon and then seeing Chris Angel Mindfreak tomorrow night and I just don't want to keep pushing it. I am hoping one decent night of solid rest will be all I need to get back on my feet again.

I am really looking forward to tomorrow's events and hopefully with a good night's rest I will awake feeling much, much better. The shuttle bus picks us up from our hotel lobby at 7.20am.

Super early but I am super keen, should be good!
