This morning we were able to have a little bit of a much needed sleep in. We woke up at about 9ish, weather was still quite humid but it’s not all terrible just means I can leave my clothes outside overnight from our night swims & they will dry fairly quickly or so I thought…after my shower this morning I made my way out to our balcony to check on my clothing, and step by step I was following a massive trail of POOP right onto my clothes! Haha it was pretty funny but also very disgusting, looks like I’m paying for a load of washing to be done today whilst we are out and about lol
We had a quick bite to eat for breakfast at the villa’s onsite restaurant, it wasn’t that great to be honest. The servings were extremely small and we were only allowed one glass of juice each and very small portions that came included with our accommodation BUT it’s free & we are in Bali so I won’t whinge too much about it. Straight after breakfast I was booked in for a medi-pedi at their salon (a cute little hut in the middle of the grounds, we sat outside whilst one of the local girls coloured my finger & toe nails. I am one for very bright nail polish colours, the fluro oranges & yellows, the hot pinks and the lime greens however in Bali they seemed to have very bland colours, mostly all darks – as the lady was wiping away my old really bright nail polish she was amazed at the colours as she had in fact never seen colours that bright before and was really intrigued by it - I wish I had thought of it, I would’ve brought some over with me to give her!
The extent of how they look after you at this place is amazing, the young girl whist doing my nails was alerted that our driver for our rafting session had turned up & was waiting for us to leave. We were running on time but she didn’t want to keep my family waiting so offered to drive me back to the villa on her scooter so we could head straight out to our white water rafting adventure – how nice!
We rocked up to our rafting venture, I was soo excited. Rafting is something I have always wanted to do but have never had a chance up until now. It was a bit of a steep decline down into the raft & I was only slightly scarred that a massive snake would jump out and attack me (lucky I was carrying my paddle) Once we made it to the bottom where our rafts were being blown up, I was in absolute awe of the beauty surrounding us – we were surrounded by trees & amazing art engravings across the rockwalls with monkeys swinging about, making tons of noise all around us. It was stunning to see them out in their natural world, absolutely beautiful!
Rafting was soo much fun, luckily we were all able to go in the same raft & about 5 minutes into our trip the middle seat started to sink (Pete’s face was hilarious, he thought we were all going to sink and die in that moment lol) We made a quick pit stop to pump it back up and then away we were. It was a really great experience, lots of laughs and opportunities for us to jump out of our raft and have a bit of a swim downstream. They had also set up a little picnic area where you could have a bit of a rest, drink some Bintangs and have a quick refuel with a packet of chips before returning to your raft for the final journey back to shore.
Once we had finished, there was a MASSIVE hike back up to the restaurant. We were all quite wet from the rafting course & were very hungry for lunch. The hike definitely was a bit of a challenge but we all made it up in the end, thankfully! There was a buffet lunch included with our rafting adventure, the food was great & the view even better. It was so lovely eating our lunch whilst overlooking the rice fields. There is just something so peaceful and calming about Ubud, I really do love it here!
We are all booked in for some massages this afternoon so we went on back to our villas for about an hour’s chill time (bit of a swim & a read of my kindle) before Pete & I made our way over to the villa’s spa for our massages – Pete got the hot rocks treatment & I received the aromatherapy massage (1hr each & it was extremely relaxing!) After our massages we returned to our villa for a quick shower to wash of the oils from the massage then headed on out to dinner. We found this nice little Mexican restaurant & had the whole upstairs outside level to ourselves – there were lovely lanterns and a nice water fountain surrounding our table, it truly was beautiful and the food/drinks were just as great.
Back to our villas for some more night swims on our last night in Ubud before we make our way onto Legion tomorrow for our final leg of this holiday. It has all been going so fast but I have honestly been enjoying my time here more than I thought I would and am feeling so relaxed its great!
