Yep, today is our last day in Bali & honestly I am not ready to go home. I have really enjoyed my time away in Bali & could’ve spent longer here. My only saving grace is that in just a few more weeks we will be jetting off again to Japan, which can get me through for now lol

We had our lovely little Balinese chefs come in again this morning to cook us a cute little breakfast before Tracey had to leave for her airport transfer home. Tracey lives in Brisbane which is why she will be on a different flight to the rest of us and why she is heading home earlier than us (we leave later on tonight)

Al let us know that we had the villa for the whole day so we didn’t have to carry our luggage around with us but they have organised one last stop at another temple and then are heading back into town to do some shopping so we should all pack our stuff so that when we get home we can chill out in the pool and relax before our airport transfers arrive. We had a bit of a swim then made our way out of town about 40 minutes to Tanah lot temple – it was honestly so beautiful!

I feel like I’ve said that about all the temples we have visited but this one was definitely my favourite. It was set amongst the water with the waves crashing all around it and when the tide rises, the temples disappear under the water so you can only access it when the tide is low. There was a “sacred temple of the snakes” where no matter the tide level the snakes live in there, they were massive and creepy but apparently mean good luck if you touch them so alas I did. It may have just been a tourist trap to get people paying a donation to touch the sacred snakes but I am in Bali & I am a tourist so I most definitely did it…making sure the fella held the snakes face well away from me whilst I did lol

We then head back into town for a spot of shopping, I didn’t really buy too much today and neither did Pete, he did have a look at some of the surf shops but didn’t really find anything he was after. We decided to head on over to the cute little restaurant on the beach that we stopped in at for drinks the other night before we ate at La Louchiola, it was lovely. The food was great & it was nice just to sit down and relax whilst all talking about the week away we have just had.

After lunch and a few drinks in the sun, we made our way back to the markets for a tiny bit more shopping then onto another beach side bar at Potato Head for some more chilled out drinks and nibbles – security here was quite fierce with all the cars being scanned & yourself upon entry but once inside it was all worth it. The venue was lovely and full of young people having a great time, it was literally a beach club with a big pool there that everyone was swimming in…way to many people for me but it was lovely to see that these kind of clubs do exist in Bali and as lovely as the beachside venue was, I think by this stage we were all a bit exhausted from the heat and were just keen to head back to the villa for a swim before our long flight home.

We made our way back to the villa, had a quick dip & finished our packing before the van pulled up to collect us. Thankfully we were all able to hop into the one van with our luggage on our way to Denpasar Airport, we had laughs & reminisced about a week just gone before pulling into the airport a bit depressed that our holiday is almost over already.

Bali, although very humid this week has been beyond what I expected. You are cleaner than and not nearly as stinky as I expected you to be & the Balinese people are much friendlier than I though. In all honesty I believe both Pete & I were pleasantly surprised by both the location & the family holiday – it definitely bought us all closer together and we most definitely will be back!
