SophieMaree's Travel Adventures

Today we are off to DisneySea on the 8.30am shuttle bus and I am pretty excited to suss out the rides in that park. The rides at Disneyland are ok but are more on the pretty side than scary. DisneySea however, now they should have the rides I like!

Good news is, we have finally figured out how this fast pass system actually works. All day yesterday there was a “fast pass line” that essentially meant people with these magical passes could skip the queue for priority access to the rides. It was a bit annoying for the rest of us peasants who’ve been waiting in queues for an hour...apparently though anyone can use a fast pass, you just scan your park ticket at the fast pass machine relative to the ride you’d like to go on and it will print a ticket with a time to come back so you can get priority access without having to line up - what a genius idea! But, the catch is you can only use one fast pass every 2 hours..still though, it makes a ton of difference especially for the main rides that had queues up to 2 hours long!

After a few rides we decided to grab a feed, similar to yesterday to grab lunch early so we can power through the remainder of the day. There wasn’t as many nice food choices here as yesterday, not as Westernised in terms of their food but that’s ok. After walking around for ages we settled with the park restaurant. It was a relatively cheap feed again and lovely service - you grab a tray and walk the buffet line selecting 2 dishes from the salad & desert line and then a main meal - I ended up grabbing the seafood salad, honey steak lunch & a chocolate cake for dessert, all were delicious

The different towns here (within the park) are pretty cool. I love the different themes these lands have as you walk through each section and how well they roll from one into the other. I have to admit, here at DisneySea Mermaid World is definitely my favourite & although the rides were extremely kiddy and boring within this world, it is based around the little mermaid which is a movie that I really loved as a little youngen.

We eventually made our way down into American Waterfront world where we found THE BEST ride ever..it was called Tower of Terror and the line up was 80 minutes long (and yes, call it silly but we waited in the queue the whole time) The fast pass was an option but we had already fast passed for another ride & our two hour window wasn’t up just yet, spewin...that and the fast past come back time was 9.30pm, almost park close time & we’d miss the final fireworks display. The whole time in the line, I was comparing our Tower of Terror at Dreamworld to this one and to be honest, if I had waited 80 minutes for this ride and it wasn’t as good as ours, I’d be...well, I’d be not a happy Chappy! I can type now and say it was a fuck load better, absolutely incredible and dare I say worth the 80 minute wait (had it of been a shorter wait though I would’ve loved to have gone on it again and again and again!). This ride had the fear factor going on for sure!

After more rides and some happy snaps around the park before we knew, it was 5.30pm and we had to get ready for the Fantasmic water lights show. We made our way down to the centre of the park, about an hour early again to secure a good spot for the show (which we had!) & the show was spectacular, I loved it - again the lights, the music, the waterworks & fireworks were great and the show lasted a good amount of time also which is always a bonus.

After the show we could FINALLY use the fast pass for the “Journey to the centre of the earth ride” We got this fast pass at around midday today and had to come back at 7.15pm to ride, even then the line times hadn’t moved a budge since earlier today - this ride must be freaking worth it & I can confirm it was, another amazing ride! Fear factor there again, shit yeah!

Soon after that it was dinner time at a burger bar in American land & then off to do some shopping at the souvenir shops & to watch the final fireworks display before we head out of the park for the shuttle bus back to Grand Nikko Hotel.

We’ve had quite a few early starts and late arrivals back to our hotel so far, which unfortunately means we haven’t been able to organise our washing. I’m not entirely sure of where Japanese people do their washing, at least in the hotels anyway as none seem to have laundromats (I will need to suss that out soon!) all i know now is that i am out of clothes to wear after tomorrow & desperately need to organise some laundry. The hotel offer laundry services, so Pete & I have arranged for our essential items to be washed so they can get us through the next day & then once we arrive in Kyoto we can figure out the rest. These hotel laundry services aren’t cheap so hopefully, there is another work around for this that we just haven’t figured out yet....I’ll keep you updated on this one lol.
