Back Down To Earth
As I sit on the train going back to Vienna from Salzburg, it is easy to wonder where the day went. We were up at 6 to catch a 7:30 train to Salzburg. Got on the train to find out our seats didn't exist. Lady on the first train told us to run back and jump on the train behind because there was no room on our train. So we did and arrived in Salzburg only 5 minutes later than we were supposed to! Had an absolutely fabulous day in Salzburg. Toured the many castles, churches, and Sound of Music sites that we could. Took a gondola ride to the top of the mountain to have lunch. What a beautiful place!

Salzburg

So we did and arrived in Salzburg only 5 minutes later than we were supposed to! Had an absolutely fabulous day in Salzburg. Toured the many castles, churches, and Sound of Music sites that we could. Took a gondola ride to the top of the mountain to have lunch. What a beautiful place!
Did a little hike and just enjoyed the fresh air. The Alps are so rugged and majestic it would be impossible not to be impressed. Arrived back in Salzburg by 4 pm. Did some more touring of the town before arriving back at train station by 7 for our 8pm train. Once again our seats didn't exist so we found some seats and settled in. We are about half way to Vienna as the sun has gone down on another really hot fantastic day. Salzburg was another fabulous place to go to. So much to offer in the beautiful setting of the Alps. Not many places I haven't enjoyed on this trip. Things have taken a turn for the worst. Our train has slowed to a crawl and we are going to be getting in a little later. Now it is a lot later. The train ending up being 1 and 1/2 hours late getting into Vienna. Didn't get in until midnight. Lucky the tram was still running so we were able to get back to our place. Pretty sketchy crowd hanging around the stations at that time of night. We have no idea why it was the delayed but we got home safe and sound!
