Back Down To Earth
Kind of forgot about Gorky Park until this morning. There has been enough songs written and movies with reference to Gorky park that a person just needs to find what all the fuss is about. Went for a 6 hour walk in Moscow today. Main target was going to be Gorky Park with other sites mixed in that came along. Turns out the other sites I saw were better than the Park. Really nothing exciting about Gorky Park. Just a bit of green space in a big city. I was expecting something different and got a standard park. It still was a great day for a walk and the park was pleasant. On the way I went through the Red Square again and got some good pictures from the other end of the square. Beautiful walk down the river and saw Peter the Great's

monument. That was fabulous and one I didn't know about. On the way saw a really nice dome church in the distance, so I checked it out on the way back. Didn't know about that either so another pleasant surprise. I spent the day touring alone. A German fellow was going to come with me but he got a better offer just as I was leaving. Probably a good thing as he might have been disappointed. After the church I went to a market area that had lots of street performers, artists, and souvenir type stuff. Interesting street but very busy. Headed back to the hostel arriving tired but content on a good day. So far getting around the cities in Russia is easy and no
different than any city at home. Amazing how we get stereotypes and impressions that are totally false and misleading. Is Donald Trump right about the media? Hmmmm makes you wonder!!!!
