Montenegro is a Balkan country with rugged mountains, medieval villages and a narrow strip of beaches along its Adriatic coastline.
Today we left a country we had lots of fun in, experienced extreme humidity and lots of swimming.
On the 27th of July we joined Babovic family and spent 7 short days in Montenegro. Vanja’s mum welcomed us with open arms and spoilt us rotten. We swam ALOT, sunbaked, explored different beaches and studies different human species that fancied our interest (the fish, why not and lips on the bottom). Yes, we even had time to do our thesis. :).
Budva was great. The beach was not to crowded. We were told that Montenegro in general is not as crazy as previous years which suited us better. The town was clean with lots of little shops along the coast line. Kids finally had fun on the trampoline and flipped backwards and forwards like they were madee out of rubber.
Our 7 day stay was spent in Sutomore. Sutomore was VERY busy with lots of tourists. Drivers are crazy and i mean crazy. Motorcycles have no rules and are oblivious to other drivers on the road. I am NOT SURE how some people are still alive. HINT: Get accommodation walking distance to the beach, you cannot park anywhere close by. The only downside to this town was RUBBISH. The bags are dumped in the allocated location just in the corner which grows into a mountain. It is then collected but in the mean time is just grows and produces beautiful scent :(. The food was super cheap. For pljeskavica and lepinja 1.5 Euro, 3 scoops of ice cram 1 Euro, and my favorite is (drums pls) eurocrem and plasma pancake. And i don't eat Nutella or Eurocrem in Australa. Pancake was 1.5 Euro. If you want a holiday you can afford this is definitely the place to go. Beaches are clean, lots of reclining chairs along the beach, music playing, people and kids laughing, showers, little caffes along the beach and the water is warm. Can’t ask for anything better. The humidity this year was EXTREME. We were exhausted by 11am. You didn't have to walk far before you started swimming in your clothes. Running was impossible. Way too humid. We were told humidity is way higher than usual and by Monday the humidity should drop (we won't be there anymore). Hmmmmmmm.
Thanks to Babovic Family for having us over. Cousins had fun. Would definitely come back and ready to tackle the crazy traffic.
