Family Europe Trip, June-August 2018

Oh, dear Bovec. Bovec is a mountain town in northwestern Slovenia. It’s surrounded by the peaks of the Julian Alps, such as Kanin and Krn. The mountains, forests and glacial lakes of Triglav National Park are to the east. The turquoise Soca River, with its rapids, is popular with water sports.

When we entered Slovenia just after the Italian border we found a shopping center where we were hoping to find a cafe/restaurant. We were starving. We found a food court with proper food...SALADS!!! Oh we literally thought we were in heaven. :)

In Bovec we are staying in a little village. The house has 3 levels. The bottom level is rented out to holiday makers. The owner even made us an apple strudel. That’ service.

When we went into the city centre we literally thought we won the lottery. Sinisa’s eyes just lit up when he saw, chevapchici, jota, pasulj, burek, and kajmak. WOW, we finally had some proper food other than pizza, pasta and seafood. Sinisa even tried "zaseka" for the first time. I think he didn't mind it!

Our dear friend Urska came to see us. We first met Urska in Adelaide 2 years ago as her husband got a job transfer from Slovenia. They lived in Hallett Cove, what a coincidence. But unfortunately moved back to Slovenia this year. She drove all the way from Maribor to Italy to see us as she wanted to show us this mountain. What a silly but

great woman she is. The area was just so beautiful with lots of cows and lots of farm smell. Kids were loving the smell, it is was refreshing...NOT :). The views were perfect with one side being Slovenian mountains and one side Italian. It was interesting to see. We loved seeing Urska again and were very greatful for seeing her again.

While here we visited, lakes, river Soca, and mountains. 3 short days were definitely NOT long enough. There is sooooooo much to do here and so little time. Kids swam in freezing cold water and i promise you they were not pushed in. It was all voluntary :). But they survived and they LOVED it. We will definitely be back in years to come. We highly recommend this place it is so beautiful.
