Today Sini and myself went for a nice steep hike up San Salvatore. Luka and Zak were so excited when told we are going hiking again that they decided to stay in bed :).
San Salvatore has 912m of elevation. It is a mountain in the Lepontine Alps above Lake Lugano and the city of Lugano in Switzerland. The Monte San Salvatore funicular links the city with the summit of the mountain. The village on top of its peaks, Carona, is a popular destination to enjoy views over Lake Lugano and to walk through the exotic plants and flowers of Parco San Grato. Sini and myself took a bus up to the car park below the top of the mountain to reduce the time taken for our return back to kids. When on top we found the views amazing but it did not compare to views at Mt Generoso. I guess Mt. Generoso has an elevation of 1701 and the views were magnificent. On our return down the mountain we decided to walk very fast and make it to the bottom before the next bus. Our plan worked. We made it down the hill before the next bus we were supposed to catch. WIN!
After waking the kids and brekky at the hotel we decided to go to swim in Lake Lugano. The receptionist told us to go to Melide, which was a huge mistake. Paying $40 for entry (you pay for everything in Switzerland) we got close to the lake discovering it was pretty dirty. There was no way I (Urska) was going to swim in it. But Zak and Sini attempted the swim. I guess they can at least say they swam in it. Where as Luka and myself decided to sun bake.
