So we arrived to the beautiful Patagonia. Such a difference compared to the flat landscape on the road! It reminded a lot of the Alps with the green mountains, lakes and German style architecture. And the Swiss prices. We stopped at a nice touristy village Villa la Angostura and from there made the traditional route of seven lakes hidden between the mountains with the final destination in another touristy village San Martin de los Andes.

Villa la Angostura, San Martin de los Andes
So we arrived to the beautiful Patagonia. Such a difference compared to the flat landscape on the road! It reminded a lot of the Alps with the green mountains, lakes and German style architecture. And the Swiss prices. We stopped at a nice touristy village Villa la Angostura and from there made the traditional route of seven lakes hidden between the mountains with the final destination in another touristy village San Martin de los Andes.
Since we were very close to Chile we decided to have a look on the other side of the border, it was supposed to take only an hour or so and the sun had not went down yet.
We went to the border and had to wait there for a while due to too many Argentineans going to Chile for shopping. Not to lose time, we entertained the border officials dancing chacarera, seeing foreigners trying to dance an Argentinean folk dance was probably a once-in-a-lifetime experience for some of them. When we crossed the border, got our exit stamps and were about to continue the trip one of the officials told us that we would not have time to come back to Argentina today. The border would close at 7 pm and it was already 6 pm., but if we want to anyway make use of our trip we could see a waterfall which is situated in the noman's land between the borders, for this we would have time. Wow, we thought, that was... interesting, let's at least see the cascade! So we did see... the drops of water falling down... We also found some onions on the ground, but nothing that would remind a waterfall.
On the way back, crossing the border after not going to Chile, we got a lot of questions from the now very suspicious officials. "So you say you came to PATAGONIA to dance tango????? Hm.... You should be REALLY good at tango then. So why didn't you go to Chile? And what are you doing in Argentina?" But this is another story...
