Peace and Love Tour

Today when we woke up at 6:30am we had 1 hour to get ready to leave for a camel ride!!! The camel ride was great except my thighs hurt soooo much by the end. We were lucky because it was just starting to warm up and it was getting hot when we got back to the caravan park so we went for a swim at 9:30am. Next we went on a hovercraft ride!!!!!!!!! The only hovercraft you can ride in the southern hemisphere. We were amazed that air can push a 8.5 tonnes plus weight of passengers off the ground. The ride was very smooth and we could ride over sand, rocks and water but it was also very noisy. We went to see dinosaur footprints, apparently the beach we went along on the tour was the best place to find dinosaur footprints in the whole world according to experts. They have found 21 different species of dinosaurs represented in the footprints around Broome. When the dinosaurs were there it was an inland swamp, not an ocean. When we got back we went for another swim before going to the RSL for dinner. Finally, half way through the trip, we got to eat at an RSL. Greg has been trying to eat at an RSL since we left Melbourne. It was also the only RSL in Australia without any walls.

Captain's Log:
Repairs on the van to date since departing Melbourne ...where do I start? Drainage system so dishwashing water doesn't flood shower, rear lights that I ripped off back in SA, multiple awning parts (black knob, support arm, support arm attachment, raise and lower lever), door pins, door retainer clip, clip that holds the roof up, gas regulator bracket (twice), reattached front vinyl with "cancer in a can" glue, TV.

Repairs still to be completed (non-urgent): gas hotwater service relief hose, curtain rail, door handle, awning top brackets.

We leave for the Gibb River Road tomorrow. Have stocked up with lots of 100 mile an hour tape and zip ties. If you haven't heard from us by early June, we didn't make it, please send more tape and zip ties!
