Peace and Love Tour

Today we had to leave really early to get to Whyalla to go on the steelworks tour. When we got to Whyalla we waited for the tour bus to arrive, we were inside and they started an information video about how they make steel. When we got on the bus we went to the top of this hill, I didn't know why (Editor’s Note: They were showing us the ships and barges out at sea where the steel is loaded). Then they U-turned and went back down past where we were before and drove the other way to the steel works place. We saw train lines everywhere, we also saw a flame that kept on going on and off from a chimney, we also saw lots of smoke and steam everywhere and hot steel that looked like lava.

After the steelworks we drove down near the sea and got dropped off while Dad went to the supermarket. We went down to a playground were we played and ate lunch. Before leaving Whyalla we drove past the statue of the loaded dog, there is a famous story by Henry Lawson about this dog. Next we drove Cowell were there is lots of jade in the rocks and a store full of jade. We tried smashing open some rocks to try and find jade but all we found were rocks. Tonight we stayed in Arno bay and had a BBQ for dinner. We went fishing on the jetty after dark but didn’t catch anything.
