Backpacker.

Day 99
I left for the train station at 11:00. I've had enough of the big city life and decided to get a few relaxing days in Sendai. The bullet train only took about two hours but I went from hot days and concrete jungle to being surrounded by mountains and a comfortable 16 degrees. I haven't planned anything here yet but I got some tips from Malthe who just left here to go back to Copenhagen.

Just now I'm sitting in the new hostel living room, I will go out and look around the area as soon as I've settled in and I can't wait to check out the izakayas in the north later tonight!

Day 100
What a long time. 100 days... It feels like I can hardly remember what life used to be like back home. Yesterday, I met a guy named Phil in the same hostel. We decided to head out and grab some beers in the evening and found a cool soul club where we spent 4 hours drinking and talking to the owners.

Today however, we

Day 100
What a long time. 100 days... It feels like I can hardly remember what life used to be like back home. Yesterday, I met a guy named Phil in the same hostel. We decided to head out and grab some beers in the evening and found a cool soul club where we spent 4 hours drinking and talking to the owners.

Today however, we

went on the train to Matsushima. This is a place 20 minutes from Sendai and when we arrived, I could see beaches and tons of small islands. We had our very own beach, some tea and many small islands to explore. It was an amazing day, I had fresh kaisen-don for lunch, yakitori as snacks and a big bowl of miso in the afternoon. We spent the entire day here and went back just before sunset.

I'm still in a struggle with finding a way to stay here but I haven't used the ace up my sleeve yet, so we must wait to see if I will succeed or not. I have faith in my friends and realized that they are the only thing I got here anyway. They might be able to help me. Tonight I'll refrain from drinking alcohol and go out for a small dinner before changing hostels tomorrow.

Day 101
Today I walked around the city for the entire day. It felt good to just

relax and not go with a planned event or a day trip for once. I went through the downtown area to "Sakuragaokakoen", which is a park where locals celebrate the arrival of the cherry blossoms. I kept walking and went across the river to for the first time in many months find myself deep in a forest. I almost forgot how much I liked silent pine forests and ended up staying here for quite some time before heading back to the hostel, to edit pictures and prepare for dinner!
