Europe

After breakfast we headed out to complete the owl trail, a 22 stage walk around Dijon, we’d purchased a guide at the tourist office the previous day. We didn’t start at number one (of course not!!) but started at number 12 & did follow the trail in reverse. There are small gold triangles on the footpaths & then a larger owl plaque with the corresponding number to the information in the book when you should stop. Richard read from the book so I could take photos & look around which seemed to work really well. The route took us past place du Théâtre, La Nef, Eglise St-Michel, l’hotel De Vogüé, Maison Milliere with a cat & owl on its roof, the owl where I made a wish after rubbing my left hand on it, Notre Dame, Rue Des Forges, Place François Rude, the covered market where we went yesterday, Place Grangier, which meant we walked past the coffee shop I went to yesterday, I did call in for a coffee, Porte Guillame the triumphal arch, Jardin Darcy (which is actually where the trail is supposed to start), Saint-Benigne, Saint-Philbert, Saint-Jean, Place Bossuet, Palais De Justice, Place De La Liberation, Philippe Le Bon, Palais Des Ducs & square Des Ducs where we completed our circuit. It was fun & a great way to discover the history of Dijon, it has some stunning buildings.
The market was really busy, their were even stalls set up around the outside, all the shops were open, Richard had read that Good Friday isn’t a public holiday in France & is obviously just another work day.
We headed home in time for lunch, toast & pate & for Richard to listen to the football, unfortunately West Coast lost.
I spent the afternoon working on our Moroccon diary & did the ironing. Richard headed to the closer supermarket for some wine & we had roast lamb for dinner, delicious with parsnips, we think our 1st ones since leaving Australia, we had Dijon Mustard with the lamb which seemed to work well.
