Europe

After breakfast we headed to SlowMov for a coffee (well I had a coffee, Richard had a wander), my coffee was delicious, they roast their own beans. We then walked along part of the historic Gràcia walks to check out a possible lunch Tapas restaurant & then headed up the hill to the park we can see from our apartment, Park Güell. It’s uphill & three escalators have been installed (although one wasn’t working) which were welcome. The park is divided into a ticketed & non-ticketed sections, I tried yesterday to book tickets for today but they were all sold out. The park is 42 acres & designed by Gaudí. We walked all around the un-ticketed area, the park has great views across the city, the ticketed section of the park is undergoing extensive restoration, the trip advisor reviews say these are quite extensive & it’s not worth the price at the moment, we could see a large area of restoration. We really enjoyed our wander around the park, it had been forecast for rain today but it didn’t & we could see that spring had definitely sprung in Spain. We then headed back to Gracia & Tapeo, we arrived just after 1pm & there was nobody else there, infact we had the restaurant to ourselves most of the meal. We ordered a local dry white wine & tapas of sardines with lemon rind, steak tartare which had a bit of a kick to it, roasted lamb with a parsnip mash & pinenuts (not your traditional roast lamb) & a Catalan cream foam, which had burnt sugar on it. It was all delicious.
