We woke late today, may have been the hours time difference or we were both tired!! I had a WhatsApp call with Lynne & then showered meaning it was 11.20 before we left the apartment. I’d found a coffee roaster - Torch. The coffee was fantastic but the service really slow, it was order at the counter & I’m not sure how long Richard queued, at least the coffee was worth it. I may be coffeeing on my own tomorrow!!
We then wondered down to the Catedral y Giralda & went in, it was beautiful although some parts were closed as there was a service taking place. They had display cases of vestments which were really beautiful & one that included raised work. We then wondered through the Santa Cruz area, past lots of lovely buildings, squares full of people eating & drinking & shops (most were closed). We turned left & ended up in the road where the supermarket we went to last night was so decided we’d buy something for lunch & head back to the apartment. The supermarket was closed but I spotted a bakery across the road, we had cheese & salad on a focaccia type bread & a piece of chocolate cake.
After an afternoon rest we went for a walk along the river, past the bus station, Schindler’s lift & eventually crossing the river towards Magica Isla, a fun fair that was closed. We’d seen from a distance what looked like a bungee jump & stadium, we’ve since discovered this was the location of the Seville expo in 1992 whose theme was “ the age of discovery”, the site now doesn’t seem very well maintained (lots of weeds & fenced off areas) although does also housed a R&D park, it was a Sunday so hard to tell if its well used. We decided to walk back along the floating pontoon only to discover this was also closed, luckily there was a path slightly back from the river & we crossed using a pedestrian bridge. For dinner we headed to the Mercado Lonja del Barranco, a similar concept to the market in Seville although not on the same scale or quality. Richard choose some tapas items from a few different stall & apart from a pizza which was initially burned & then undercooked & he asked for our money back, all the food was lovely. A football game was on the tv meaning the area we’d sat in was very busy when we left.
