I woke to terrible news, Alex Rance has ruptured his ACL & will be out for the season, all the best Alex with your rehab.
We headed out to a printers as we needed to complete a form, luckily it was near a coffee shop that roasted its own beans La Finca & I had a lovely coffee. We then went to Alhambra to see which parts we could access & whether we could get into the museum. We passed the Cathedral & made a stop at Casa de Zafra, the monasteries chapel, which is still used by a small order of nuns today. It was interesting especially as a statue had a dog with a stick in its mouth, also carved into the altar there were also dogs (or pigs) also with sticks.
We then headed up a rather steep hill to Alhambra & spent the next couple of hours wondering around. The museums were really great & included pictures of the extensive renovations to various parts & the plans, I’m so pleased we walked up there, I think the museum was the quietest part. There were two of the lion statues from the court of the lions & various other mosaics, pillars & wood work. I also learnt that Granada is Spanish for pomegranate which is also the cities symbol.
After walking back down the hill we headed to the 2nd tapas restaurant Los Diamanté’s II, we passed Los Diamanté’s on the way but Ricardo had said this was the tourist restaurant. It was so busy when we arrived & the couple of empty tables had reserved on them, we found a spot to stand just outside the kitchen & Richard went to order a couple of glasses of wine. Two people left & I asked the waiter if we could have their table & he said yes.

I do actually think the reserved tables might have been saved for regulars, only as a couple of them stayed empty the whole time we were there. Not long after sitting down some buds & garlic arrived (a cockle or pipi we believe), we then ordered an assorted fried seafood (surtido pescado) which was delicious, it was so light in a tempura style batter & not oily at all & included anchovies, prawns & a couple of different fishes. Bread rolls arrived & after ordering a couple more glasses of wine some Spanish rice, which was nice with we think pork & prawns. Richard then ordered a beer, cerveza alhambra & a couple of small langoustines arrived, delicious. We were charged for the bread, which we thought we might be, todays lunch cost €23.50, $37.57, amazing. We walked home & struggled to find our street, lol, we kept seeing shops that we knew we’d passed but couldn’t remember when, coming or going, anyway in the end it was easier to find the supermarket & walk home from there (we couldn’t even remember our street name to put into google maps, think a week in one place will do us good). We weren’t too concerned. We had a rest & then Richard headed to the supermarket while I finished our ironing. We’ve just had something to eat, it’s 8.20pm, we finished the squid with a spinach, avocado & tomato salad & sauté potatoes,again delicious.
