Richard found where to dispose of the rubbish, just around the corner were a couple of bins that were actually just holes in the ground, we think he’d deciphered which bin was which & we headed out to “shop like a local”, 1st stop was the panaderia to purchase a cuerno & a Torino de cielo both being speciality sweets of Murcia, we then stopped at the cafe lab & then headed to the Mercado de Veronica for queso de Murcia, cornilla & un pan for lunch & pez for dinner. We did look at the fruit & vegetables. We came home with our purchases & then headed out for a walk along the river. The river isn’t very wide at this point & most of the bed seemed to be full of pampas grasses. We walked through a garden that they were still planting or re-planting & passed a large number of orange & lemon trees, most of them still laden with fruit that where well past being ripe, they were small plots & we weren’t sure who owned them. We walked for 1 1/2 hours round trip & had our pate, soft white cheese & bread for lunch, along with an orange & some large red grapes.
I spent the afternoon working on my Morocco diary, I made a cup of tea & we ate our pastries, one was a firm custard with a Carmel topping & the other puff pastry with a meringue filling, both were really nice. We then walked up to the supermarket.
Dinner was delicious, we had the sardines for entree & discovered why they are generally served for lunch lol ... they get a little bitter tasting from the blood. We then had the other fish (not sure what it was) but it tasted good, we also had some bread & salad & a bottle of sparkling red from this area, which was a little sweet but drinkable.
We watched another episode & I set the alarm for the next morning.
