We awoke to sunshine but it was only 2c, with a top of 13!! We’d traveled south before coming north in hopes it would be warmer, although I suppose it is warmer now than a month ago, at least the sun was shining.
We headed to the Les Halles, Paul Bocuse market, we had a walk around, a lovely indoor market with a mix of stalls selling fresh items & stalls with tables & chairs for the cooked items. We purchased some pate en croute- Les Halles, we only wanted two slices, as it was quite near the end the lady gave us the rest “as a gift”, some beautifully ripe Brie, small cherry Roma tomatoes, bananas, haricot beans & bread, it was a heavy rye loaf & was purchased by the kg, we brought a 1/4 of a loaf. All was delicious, especially the cheese. Australian Brie & even imported French Brie just isn’t the same in Australia. We came home & I worked on editing our South African diary. We had lunch & I continued my editing whilst Richard listened to the football, Eagles V Dockers, the Eagles won. Richmond beat Port, in Adelaide, an unexpected result as we had our captain, two VC’s, Dusty & two other premiereship players out, our good run with injuries has ended, it has meant the younger cubs are getting games & they played really well today.
We then headed to Carrefore, I had wanted to go to Galleries La Fayette but the shopping centre was really busy. We’ve purchased for today & tomorrow.
There’s lots of overflowing bins in the streets of Lyon due to a three week old dispute with the refuse collectors. It does smell, but would be much worse if it was warmer.
