South Africa

We awoke to an overcast sky & headed off to the heads, a lovely little walk to 4 different viewing platforms, you could see that Knysna is built around an estuary.
We then headed into the Main Street for a coffee, Snobs Coffee had very good reviews & luckily the coffee lived up to its name!!
We then drove to Buffalo Bay and walked along the beach to Brenton-on-sea a 9km round trip. We had tea & Richard had crumble & I had a scone at Brenton before walking back. We saw a number of sea birds, including oyster catchers waiting for the tide to turn, plovers & of course the large seagulls. On the sand we spotted what Richard initially thought was a really tiny turtle but wasn’t, further along a number of them looked they they were having a race!!
Buffalo Bay was bright sunshine & clear blue skies, as we walked along it became overcast & the same happened on our return.
We passed a number of people doing the same walk & a number who turned around at the 1/2 way mark.

Day 23 - Friday

I had my shoes & socks off & was walking along the shoreline and paddling the water was freezing. Richard noticed my toenail was hanging off when we got to Brenton, it was my numb toe that I know I’ve knocked a lot including 2 days previously on a walk in Natures Valley, how long do they take to grow back? Richard said his fell off 3 times before growing correctly again - yikes.
We had an ice cream before visiting leisure island on our way home & had a lovely drive around the island, Richard had found a pub selling traditional ales & we decided to walk & have dinner there. The Bosuns pub & grill is a 40 min walk from our accommodation & was really busy, at 1 stage I think we were the youngest in the pub, we think Hunter Village which is near the pub is a retirement village, we also thought it looked like a number of retirees lived on leisure island. Richard had liver, bacon & onions with gravy & mash & I had what they said was a light meal of 4 fish cakes, chips & salad.
