South Africa

The power remained on today which was handy for packing / tidying. Richard went out for a walk & brought a takeaway coffee back with him, about 20 mins before we left the water went off, luckily I’d already showered but it did mean I had to leave the toilet unflushed. We said goodbye to our host & headed to Franschhoek again passing the Haweqwa nature reserve which we traveled the other side of when leaving Paarl, another beautiful drive, the catchments were rather empty. We then descended down a very windy road into Franschhoek. Franschhoek is a very pretty town initially settled by the Huguenots meaning the buildings, streets & vineyard names have a French feel.
We parked & had a wonder up the road, I browsed in a few shops but found the clothing very expensive. We had a lovely lunch at a cafe, we both had beautiful salads, we sat outside under umbrellas & it did feel like we could have been at a cafe in a courtyard in France. We stopped into the pick & pay for a few groceries & made our way to Bakoven. We passed the wine tram, we’d also seen the wine bus. Both are a hop on hop off concept & stop at 6 wineries.
We arrived in Bakoven to no electricity & struggled to get into the apartment complex’s gate. After about 10 mins we texted our host who came down to let us in.

We waited for the electricity to come back on to have a cup of tea & stayed in for dinner, kingclip (very similar to our rockling) baby potatoes & sugar snaps, I’d spotted a pack of purple & green sugar snaps although you couldn’t really tell they were purple once cooked.
We struggled to get a channel on the TV & eventually gave up & watched something on Netflix on Richards laptop.
