South Africa

We awoke to grey skies & drizzle, it had rained overnight. As Richard was taking luggage out to the car he spotted a large baboon & the next minute Tosha had as well. Marc our host said he thinks the male has been kicked out by the main troop which is why he’s been hanging around in their garden. Our route today was approximately 4 & 1/4 hours along The N2, it was grey & rained / drizzled most of the way. The sweeping views of the bay would have been even prettier on a clear day, as would the mountain ranges. We turned left onto the R406, the problem with google maps is it doesn’t tell you when it’s an unsealed road!! We had 33 kms of unsealed & at times single width road but arrived in Greyton & were able to check into our accommodation. A lovely studio, 1 room with a separate bathroom. The windows overlook a very pretty garden & Greyton looks lovely, I’m looking forward to a walk around after Richards nap.
Post nap, we had a nice wander around the town, on our walk a jack russell decided to join us, 3 horses suddenly appeared & seemed to know where they were going. A few restaurants were open on Sunday evening. We returned to the studio & Richard showered before we went up to the post house bar for a drink. I then spotted 5 cows walking up the road again knowing where they were going, we’ve seen a number of dogs out for walks on their own. We’re eating in tonight, we have a 2 burner stove & a microwave, we’d purchased smoked angel fish, broccoli & baby potatoes, our hosts have also left us some Von Geusau toffee crunch dark chocolate made in Greyton so that will be dessert!!
