South Africa

Happy 3rd wedding anniversary.
Breakfast was really good, a buffet with cereal, meats & cheeses & toast & table service for juice, fruit & cooked breakfast. I noticed they had lattes on the menu so had a coffee after breakfast & was pleasantly surprised, it wasn’t too bad.
Last night at dinner we chatted to Niels who is the owner about our plans for today & he’d suggested a walk - salt river route, Carol provided us with a map & we headed off.
We parked at the store & headed along the beach about 400 meters before heading inland, we’d spotted a lookout from the beach. Carol had said we’d find a sign to saying closed but to ignore that, we had a lovely walk although missed the lookout on the way there, couldn’t locate the part that said closed & ended up not completing a circuit but we found the lookout for the salt river mouth, ended up turning back when we realised we were walking the Rugpad route which was a 6 hour walk & then found the lookout we’d seen from the beach. Natures Valley certainly lives up to its name, it’s beautiful. Richard can’t believe with a name like Natures Valley why everyone is wearing clothes lol .....

We drove to the estuary & completed part of the Groot River Route which is a circuit around the estuary.
We had ice creams & headed back to Lily Ponds.

Day 21 - Wednesday

Happy 3rd wedding anniversary.

We drove to the estuary & completed part of the Groot River Route which is a circuit around the estuary.
We had ice creams & headed back to Lily Ponds.

I caught up on my diary & Richard had an afternoon nap.
I couldn’t resist the bath, this was our 5th nice looking bath & I think the next bath will be in Krueger. I didn’t even have enough water to cover my legs but still enjoyed it, so nice looking out the window at the trees.

We went over to the restaurant for dinner, a salad with bacon, beetroot, some greens & a lovely soft cheese, a demi- taste cup of tomato soup, our main meal was salmon which was delicious with a baked & filled potato, asparagus & green beans, which would have to be one of my favourite meal combinations, I joked that Richard had organised this for our anniversary, & chocolate brownie with ice-cream for dessert, a lovely meal & nice way to finish a lovely day.
