We awoke to Tosha barking & running backwards & forwards & Richard spotted a baboon in the garden in the vines eating grapes. This set off a change reaction of dogs barking.
We headed to Thesen Island to purchase bread from Ile de pain, what a lovely artisan bakery, we also purchased coffee & milk tarts, these are a puff pastry base & a thickened & slightly sweet milky filling, I’d seen them at other bakeries, they were very nice. We collected some laundry we’d dropped off the previous day as we didn’t have quite enough t-shirts to last us to Bakoven, which is our next accommodation with a washing machine. I could get used to dropping off & picking up my laundry!!
We then headed to the Goudveld forest to complete the Millwood mine walk, unfortunately as we entered the park the ranger said that whole part of the forest had been burnt out in the garden route fire, a bit of a shame as that area also contained the remains of a gold mining town & mine.
We decided to walk the circles in the forest track which is 3 km in total, named after Dalene Matthee a writer who lived in the area & included Knysna in her novels.
It was a lovely walk through the forest, we could hear lots of bird life. We had a picnic lunch upon our return, I asked for the car to be moved nearer us just in case any baboons appeared, I didn’t want a repeat of the kangaroo episode!!
We drove back through Phantom Pass, which was pretty but certainly not as stunning as the other passes we’ve been through & then drove back through Knysna Quays in time for the EPL.
