On our last day in Germany, we visited one of the most horrific sights in history: Dachau Concentration Camp. Dachau was the oldest camp. It was established at the very beginning of the Nazi regime and was not liberated until 1945 by the Americans.

This gloomy morning is one I will remember for a long time. I silently walked through the museum and refreshed myself with the horrors that happened here and the history that led up to it.

I walked through some of the barracks that housed the prisoners.

I walked through the gas chambers where many people were murdered.

This place was eery. I cannot begin to imagine nor understand the cruelty that went on here. I don't understand why this happened, or how so many good people could let it happen. As I walked through, I was angry that this could go on for so long. But I can't do anything about that. What I can do, what we all should do, is take this black mark in history as a lesson. And never let it happen again.
