Nantes, France

Today, my friends and I decided to get out of Nantes and go on a day trip to Rennes. It took a tram and two buses to get there, adding up to about an hour and a half.

When we arrived, we were starving! So we searched for about an hour for something to eat. I'd forgotten that everything in France is closed on Sunday, but luckily, we found a yummy bakery. I bought un pain au chocolat, my favorite!

Rennes, France

Today, my friends and I decided to get out of Nantes and go on a day trip to Rennes. It took a tram and two buses to get there, adding up to about an hour and a half.

When we arrived, we were starving! So we searched for about an hour for something to eat. I'd forgotten that everything in France is closed on Sunday, but luckily, we found a yummy bakery. I bought un pain au chocolat, my favorite!

We spent the next couple of hours wandering around the city. It was beautiful, and very cool to see another part of France. Rennes has

some very unique architecture and some very old buildings. We explored some grand churches, and I went in and listened to a little bit of French mass.

Around 1, everyone was hungry again, so we stopped for lunch. I had a burger, which doesn't sound very French, but I swear that's all they eat around here! Everyone back home keeps telling me to eat French food, but most places serve burgers or pizza. The traditional French cuisine is really expensive.

After lunch, we went to this stunning park. It had flowers and fountains, and we really lucked out with the sunny weather. There were also a lot of birds, including the bird of France, the cock. We spent a couple of hours here, just lounging around and enjoying the sunshine.

Once it got a bit cloudy out, we went to a museum. In France, museums are free the first Sunday of each month, so I gained free access to the Musée des Beaux Arts. It was a fairly big museum, with artwork ranging from the 16th century to modern times. I really enjoyed looking at the sculptures, those are my favorite.

We decided to have a small snack around 6, and we stopped at a crêperie. I ordered a sweet crêpe with the famous Bretagne sauce called caramel beurre salé and a chocolat chaud. It was delicious!

To end our day in Rennes, we went to an Irish pub. By this point, it had started to rain, and we were all exhausted and freezing! But the drinks warmed me up, as I ordered a cider.

At 8:30, we boarded the bus back to Nantes. I finally crawled into bed around midnight, not at all wanting to wake up the next day at 6 for my 8 hours of classes. However, I had a great day! It was so cool to experience another part of France.
