Hooray for Hollywood

Well today's goals are very clear......get to Hollywood see the sign, walk on the Walk of Fame and see a celebrity, pretty sure I can manage three of them not sure about the fourth!
Well a bit of a lie in getting up about 7.45am, well the guide tells you it is best to keep clear of the traffic till about 10am. So we set out at about 9.45am Donna is quite concerned about traffic after our journey in on Sunday night but it is an absolute breeze the only issue we have are a couple of diversions and they were really straight forward and by 10.30am we had parked up in the carpark of the Hollywood and Highland shopping centre.This is the place that came up when we ggogle'd where to get the best photo of the

HOLLYWOOD sign. First goal achieved. Well we found the area to take the photos, you can get a photo of the sign on it's own but not on a selfie or even one with you in it...a little disappointing but it's still ticked off our second goal. After a quick walk around a few of the shops we exited on to the Walk of Fame saw several prominent stars John Travolta, Olivia Newton John, Quentin Taranto, Julie Andrews and John Grant to name a few...well stretching it a bit it was actually Johnny Grant who apparently was a radio personality, TV producer and the honorary Mayor of Hollywood. So thats the hat trick achieving three out of four of our goals isn't a bad effort really. But wait.... the pavement is closed up ahead and people are clamouring around, though the LAPD keep everyone moving along quite quickly, it would appear that Hollywood is honouring one of Donna's favourite actresses Kathy Bates. And there she is 10 yards away the helpful LAPD keep us moving so not sure if we got a picture but we

did see and hear her in the flesh...that makes it a full house..... Get in, back of the net. Kathy Bates gets the 2589th Star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame today and alledgedly today will now be Kathy Bates day in Hollywood. Leaving this area Donna does a classic, accepting the "free" cd that was put in front of her and then signed by the artist...."Just give what you can afford $5 or $10 Well thats goodbye to $5 it will probably be a blank cd with a bogus details card and a dodgy signature however it could be worth a mint if the guy makes it big lol. Well all of our goals achieved and the car park cost only $6 a bargain really. Well that's us time to get on the road to Fresno. We should be there in a little under four hours and Donna is a little lost with no guide to read and no instructions to give, well not many instructions any way.
Our route takes us out through the mountains with some great scenery its warm and sunny today hovering around 99F. When we hit the other side of the mountains it's agricultural land and a couple of large cattle ranches all the way. This is California's Central Valley where the wine comes from.It's amazing how the vines, olive trees, orange trees etc are all planted in perfect lines at 45 degrees to the highway and they see to go on for miles. We saw a truck pulling two trailers of oranges as we went down the highway I wouldn't want to guess how many thousands of oranges were there. Well there we were at about 4 o'clock pulling in to Best Western Fresno Inn. Well they have a laundry room and we have quite a bit of laundry so guess what we were doing this evening. There is also a microwave so I've got Spaghetti and Meatballs and Donna has Pea and Ham soup, we don't have bread though...d'oh. Walmart's Lemon Pie and Blueberry Pie for pudding halfy halfy very nice too. Then a night with the TV and hoping to have a better nights sleep. Only to discover the air con isn't working. doesn't bode well does it?
