GETTING OUR KICKS ON ROUTE 66

Well off into the Yosemite National Park but only after a hearty breakfast... Yoghurt and Fruit, Waffle and Syrup and Scrambled Egg and Sausage yum yum. Well it's a 50 min drive to the Park from the visitor centre where we got all the advice from the lovely lady last night and we get our pass today. The drive in is fantastic great scenery, that's getting to be a overused phrase but it fits. The Park just takes it up a notch the mountains, the trees, the greenery the river it's truly breathtaking in places. The roads are a little challenging with tight turns, lots of tilt and at times very steep and high drops. Concentration certainly called for. we looked and looked for Sam but couldn't find him anywhere, nor did we see any bears........but we did see a bobcat, it was black or dark brown probably about twice the size of an average cat and it had a slightly stumpy tail. It simply strolled across the road in front of us staring at us as it crossed its a shame the cameras weren't at the ready. It had its lunch, squirrel I think, dangling from its jaws. We didn't get out at the Village or Visitor Centre as it was far too busy so we followed the rest of our instructions from last night doubled back to take the road up to Glacier Point. Many stops and many more photos later we are there. Glacier Point is an unbelievable vantage point you can see so much of the valley.... Alledgedly on the clearest of days you can see mountains 190 miles away.....unbelievable! Donna decides to bag a souvenir, a large cone, despite me saying it is forbidden. Well it's 45F up here feels OK in the sun but step into the shade or breeze and it feels a little cool. Time to get Donna's heart racing again as we turn

around and take the road back down.. She truly hates these scary roads but I think it was better, ever so slightly, going back down. My hearts racing as we are told to stop at theRangers Station , the illicit cone, but we are waved on. We get back to Mariposa it's 72F here and grab a snack...Chicken Tenders and tomato tonight. It's 6pm now our trip out was about 7 hours all told but passed in the blink of an eye. Donna is in the shower then we are going down the road for a couple of beers thought it would be rude not too support the local businesses lol.
Well we are back.....we tried The Alley first a very pleasant funky bar with craft ales... a glass of pumpkin cider and a glass of Pinot.......$15 The cider wasn't even a pint!! To make matters worse they had no ice..... So I drank the wine and Donna had my cider. We went back to Betts Golden Coin we ordered 2 Buds......The bud ran out just shy of a pint so the barman said that ones free..... When I had finished that I asked for a Three Monkeys Red Ale. He got 1/2 poured and then that went too guess what that's free. By the time I had finished that they had put Sierra on. It's a pale ale so I order one of them....The bill was $7 So we left $10 and made our way back to our hotel. Some pumpkin Pie and a bottle of beer then it will be night night.
